Testimonials - THE ESTATES (Elegant Retirement Apartments)

Lady with Flowers Photo "I grew up near Spoon River north of Ellisville, Illinois. After graduating from Western Illinois University, I was a teacher for 31 years. Upon retirement I moved to Galesburg and still had my home. For health reasons I moved into Seminary Estates on November 7, 1988.

At the time, the Estates was the only facility in Galesburg which offered the services the I needed. Often I smile to myself as I recall that it took time to make the decision to move. It seems that each time I looked at the Estates, I knew some of the tenants. I would go home and say to myself "Clara, what would you do living there with all those old people!" There were about 32 tenants at that time. And now I am "one of them" and enjoy it.

The Estates is attractive and the people that who provide services are friendly, helpful, and pleasant.

Watching the Estates grow over the years has been interesting. There is now about the same amount of people living here as the little town of Ellisville where I grew up. I haven’t come "full circle" but almost!"

"Yes, I did move to the Estates July 13th, 1989. It was my daughter-in-law’s birthday. After my husband’s death, I moved back to my hometown of Emden, IL, Logan County. My son, Cecil, and his wife, Wanda, were living in Galesburg. He had been transferred here from Pioneer Seed Company in Morton to the Woodhull plant as manager. They asked me if I would like to come and live in this brand new retirement village near them. So…we looked. I liked it and I came here to live. The building is beautiful, inside and out. Tenants are checked on day and night. I live here as I did at home. No snow to scoop, no yard to mow, the van goes to the stores, what more could I want? I plan to stay."

"What I like about the Estates is the great friends, good food, and I chose to do as much or as little as I want"

"I love going out to the mall. The driver takes us so we don't even have to take care and worry about the road conditions."
